Maze Museum & Mini-Mini Land (27. May '12)

This past Sunday (May 27), 4 of my students and I went to 2 attractions in Jeju. The first was the Maze Museum. The Maze Museum has 3 labyrinths. The first is in the shape of a whirlwind, the second as a woman, and the third as a stone grandfather statue. They go from hard - harder - hardest, respectively.

The main welcome center has a couple of museums, a cafe, gift shop, and other exhibits and interesting stuff--not to mention an observatory on the roof.

Let's look at the pictures:

Three of my students and I in front of the maze map.

Some of the botanical arrangements at the entrance.

Maze map again.

You know how I love water . . .

The entrance to the "Whirlwind Maze"

Ok, here's the map. Let's figure out how we'll get through it.

Supportive hands in the center of the whirlwind.

Yay! We made it through the whirlwind!
Let's see if we can do the same through the woman.

From an observatory in the middle of the three mazes.
You're looking at a section of the woman maze.

Part of the stone grandfather labyrinth.

You got this?

If you've got a smart phone, you might be able to get a few clues.
Didn't work for us though.

Yeah, we started to get a bit desperate. This one was really hard.

Yay! We made it out!
Looking at the labyrinth from the end/bottom of the stone grandfather.

A really big bell.

Description of the bell.

These pictures are really cool and effective optical illusions.
This picture doesn't really show that.

A different angle, just to give an idea of the optical illusion.

Next stop, Mini-mini Land (I'm using the Korean title). This is where you can go all over the world without leaving Jeju island.

The pictures will explain.

Entrance

A look inside the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Sphinx, Cylinder Ziggurat, London Bridge . . . all within sight from each other.

Seoul Station from back in the day.
Whoa.
Nothing like the one today.

ISHTAR GATE!!!!

This is right up my alley (Archaeology major speaking).

Niagara Falls
I didn't recognize it at first.
This is pretty pathetic, considering I was there once.

Famous black pigs of Jeju.
They didn't have to feed their pigs.
On the far left is the "toilet." That's why they never had to feed them . . .

Mount Rushmore overlooking the White House.
Seriously, the world is small.

One of my students literally holding up/pushing the Tower of Pisa.

Ah, I saw it, but didn't go inside (the actual one in Israel).
Ah, there's an excuse to return to Jerusalem . . .

Of course, there were many other monuments--even a few missing ones--but that's enough for now.

In Mini-Land, there's a Mirror House. We couldn't resist it.
See my fingers?

We need to practice this some more.

This mirror maze was pretty confusing.

But still pretty cool.

We had a really nice time. We're thinking about going to another place.
I'll have my camera ready.
