Jia's Wedding (9. Sept.)

On September 9, 2012, one of the Jr. teachers at my institute got married. It was a lovely wedding in one of the luxury hotels in the city (Jeju Grand Hotel). It was in the good ol' modern Korean style--short and straight to the point. It was over in about 30 minutes. The reception that followed was a huge buffet (although I didn't have an appetite, strange enough). It was nice, and now let me show you some of the pictures I took so you can get a better idea of the event.

Yours truly with the lovely bride.

The aisle in 1 of the banquet halls.
The 2 ladies in the foreground are the groom's mother and bride's mother, respectively.

Ice sculpture frame of the couple.

Two (but really 3) buffet tables. There was still more than this.
Look up at the ceiling: what do you see?

A banner dedicated to the couple.

The ceremony begins with the couple's parents.

The groom waiting for his bride.

The bride's grand entrance.

Handing the bride over to the groom.

At the altar.

The chairs where the 2 mothers were sitting.

Before entering the banquet hall, one should come to this table.
Here, you sign & leave a comment in the guest book.
You also give a monetary gift in an envelope (this is your way of paying for the buffet).
Unlike in the States, you don't bring gifts to a wedding; just money.

Had to back-track to get this sign to this couple's wedding ceremony.

The 3 couples . . .

. . . thanking their guests for their attendance.

The groom and the bride each have a friend sing for them during the ceremony.
This is the bride's friend.

Singing with passion.

The (royal) couple.

Celebrating the newly-weds.

Off to some of the guests from the institute church, engaged in a very important activity:

Kids enjoying the reception in their own way.
