Whoa, first off, my apologies for not continuing this as soon as I finished posting my pictures of Brunei. My stepmom had arrived, and I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible, showing her all of Korea (or my area) that I could. She just left Korea yesterday, and I'm back at my school deskwarming. Sounds like now is an excellent time for me to continue where I left off.
Back to Singapore
After a 2-hr. flight from Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei I returned to Singapore. This time, I wasn't going to simply have a long layover, but I was going to stay about 4 days to see what I could in this city-state.
Like in Brunei, I
couchsurfed in Singapore. My host was a local who shared his apartment with his mother and another lady who's been there for about 2 decades. Excellent place with lots of lovely, fresh, night breeze.

Where I waited for the bus that'd take me to the metro. |

What?! What are you doing here? Great to see you, though! For those who don't know, let me introduce you to Nando's. |

Simple enough, right? |
The View from Swissotel: The Stamford
My host told me about
Swissotel: The Stamford. Don't go to the elevators just across the main doors. Go through a small hallway just off to the side, as though you were going to one of their cafes or bistros. In the end, there is another couple of elevators. Take one to the 69th or 70th floor. There's a restaurant/bar up there with a spectacular view--and it's free. Make sure you get there between 10am - 11am (+/-). Ask the lady at the entrance if you could go inside. If she's in a good mood, she'll let you in. I'm glad she was in a good mood when I went there.

Behold, my free view. |

Hooray for local tips to cool and free stuff/views. |
Here's a video clip of the establishment with its high-life views.

I couldn't do anything about that window pane. Alas. |

The image(s) most people think of when they hear "Singapore." |
|
I almost forgot I was still in Asia. |
After this place, I made my way to the
Singapore Botanic Gardens. However, I will dedicate an entire post to that place. I may have taken half of the pictures I ever took during this trip at that place.
The Malaysian Border
After that, I wanted to see if I could get to the border between Singapore and Malaysia. I followed the wrong directions, and it took me a while, but I got there--at least within sight of it.
|
You see the land on the other side of the river? That's Malaysia! |
|
The MRT line that runs from the border with Malaysia to the airport. (just a little over an hour to ride it) |

Which bus do you need? (Forgot where I was going) |
|
What?! I haven't seen you outside the States! |
|
Reminds me of the "bike garages" I saw in Japan. |

Where I got on the metro, Bishan Station. |

If you like sour, this was good. |
