Chusok (Korean Thanksgiving) Break pt.1

Yes, my 1st Korean national holiday since I began teaching! Now, off to travel and enjoy it!

For Tuesday, I left and travelled to see Seoyeon, a friend of mine from Bogi who lives in Seoul. We met at Jamsil Station (Line 2) and and had lunch together. We were gonna enter Lotte World (Korea's Disneyland), but something came up and we had to leave to her home.

Boy, it was beyond pouring! We were able to make it to her home, although we had to walk under the flood that was pouring down for about 5 minutes. We were drenched and stuck in the apartment for about 5 or 6 hours until the downpour paused.

We took advantage of the pause to buy some stuff we needed and to walk to the Olympic Park (where the 1988 Olympics were held: it's just across the road from where Seoyeon currently lives). Then, it started to rain again . . .

Well, we made it back before it got really bad. We watched some (more) TV, got ready for bed, and I feel asleep as she was chatting with a friend she hasn't seen in years. Wednesday was a nicer and fuller day. Will talk about that in my next post.

Inside of the Korean metro/subway train. Different from the ones I've been in, but very practical.

Seoyeon's lunch: noodles with black beans and onions. She let me try some. It was really good.

My lunch: Bulgogi (Korean beef BBQ) with rice, Kimchi (the red stuff at the top), some vegetrable, and a soup. It was really filling (didn't eat everything).

Seoyeon capturing the moment I'm about to dig in . . . with chopsticks.

The grocery store we went to during the storm's pause. Don't these fish look delicious?

One of the apartments. This is the complex (not the building) where Seoyeon and her family currently live (they're gonna move soon).

Standing outside, looking up at the building where Seoyeon lives. Her famliy live on the 15th floor.

Yip, inside the elevator. 33 Floors (and 2 levels of basement).

On the next day (Wednesday), We go to the Olympic park again, I meet up with most of my orientation group for American Thanksgiving, and go out for a walk in the city with them.

Long day.
